AUSTRALIA DAY video release of ‘ANCIENT LAND’
17 JAN 2012

Jane Walker’s song Ancient Land (featuring Predator from Street Warriors) is a celebration of Australian identity and an edgy soulful anthem calling for reconciliation. Jane and Goset Music are excited to release a video for the song, shot by the acclaimed music video producer and director Angus Giorgi (Dreamcatcher/Armada, Natalie Imbruglia “Torn”).                                     _                                  _

“The song Ancient Land gives a gentle but powerful message whose time has finally come.”
Aden Ridgeway, NSW Ambassador for Reconciliation Filmed at the Vanguard and on the streets of Newtown, Sydney, it features Deadly award winning rapper Predator from the indigenous hip-hop group Street Warriors.  Predator is an inaugural ambassador for the Australian Electoral Commission’s Indigenous Electoral Participation Program that encourages indigenous Australians to vote and have their say. The haunting melody and lyrics of the song draw upon Jane’s childhood in Sydney, growing up in a world filled with Aboriginal street and place names but few Aboriginal faces and the sense that much of Australia’s history had been swept under the carpet. 2012 promises to be a landmark year for Australian identity and unity with the proposed national referendum. For the first time, this will give positive recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Constitution. Ancient Land, from Jane Walker’s debut album, Walk Gently, was produced by Steve James at Rocking Horse Studios, Byron Bay and features keys by James Cruickshank (The Cruel Sea) and guitar by Warwick Scott (Skunkhour). Ancient Land and the album Walk Gently are available on iTunes, the Goset Music store and other online music stores, and selected retailers.

The single ‘Do it With Love’ was released to Australian radio and iTunes in February 2011 and one of the top ten hit-picks for The Music Network magazine. All proceeds from sales on Valentine’s Day were donated to the Qld Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.

Another song from the album, ‘All Acts of Love’ was released on Universal Music compilation Groove Operator in Poland in January 2011.

The anthemic song, ‘Walk Gently on the Earth’ is being used by Project Kaisei in their promotional videos and a percentage of sales of the song is being donated to this non-profit organization which is focused on increasing awareness of the scale of marine debris, its impact on our environment, and the solutions for both prevention and clean-up. The recording features the wonderful pianist, Stu Hunter on wurlitzer, percussion by Jess Ciampa and Sanskrit chanting by Dwaipayana, Sarah Sweeting, Ivan Brownrigg, Gretel Packer, Claire Scobie and Melissa Halliday.

Jane introduced audiences to her new material when she performed her song ‘Ancient Land’ with Street Warriors at the Dreaming Festival then before international media at World Youth Day. NSW Reconciliation Ambassador, Aden Ridgeway describes ‘Ancient Land’ as a timely celebration of Australian identity and a call to unity. “‘Ancient Land’ gives a gentle power to a message whose time has finally come”. ‘Ancient Land’ is now on iTunes and is included on the album ‘Walk Gently’.
