From the monthly archives:

April 2009

The last few months have been taken up with recording and working on forthcoming album. Barbs and I have been hard at it, and loving it.

Barbs is doing an amazing job and it’s almost finished now – pretty much all the instrumental and vocal parts are recorded. Last week we did a percussion session with Jess Ciampa at Sound Level, adding percussion to about six songs. Jess added some beautiful spice to the mix – including lots of darabuka on Walk Gently – call me biased, but the drums on that track are sounding incredible, with Jess and Hamish Stuart’s brilliance on fire in there.

The week before that, Barbs and I spent a night basking in the wonderful talent of Bobby Flynn as we recorded him singing and playing guitar on Optimistic Gardener and If I Could Fly. (photos of that night here).

In March we recorded a lot of my vocals in a garden cottage – we spent three days bunkered away surrounded by bush and got me singing. There are a couple more things we are going to record – Sanskrit chanting and some Indian instruments, and a little more guitar, and meanwhile we are gradually pulling the tracks together… not too long to go!

Loved playing with Greg Royal at Bar Me at the last gig.  jx
